In previous blog posts we looked at tips for finding figure flattering swimwear. View the tips here. In this blog post we will look at more tips.
When choosing swimwear, choose it for it’s purpose, if you are learning to swim, sail or surf then a string bikini will be floating off in no time. Choose also colours which will complement your skin tone, complexion and accentuate/eliminate your best/worst features. The secret to a good fitting swimsuit is drawing the eyes to the most flattering parts of your figure; this will help you to feel more comfortable as well as looking your best.
- To accentuate your best features, use bright colours or patterns in that area.
- To hide your worst features, use dark solid colours.
- If you have pale skin, use black or deep jewel tones, such as dark purple, navy, and maroon
- If you have dark skin, bright colours are more flattering and help to hide your worst features.
- To add volume (to the bust or hips); choose pieces with ruffles in that area.
- To hide volume (on the waist); use shirred or rusched fabric.
Don’t be afraid to buy separates that don’t match! If you want to highlight your bust but pull attention away from your hips, buy a bikini top in a bright solid or pattern, and a bottom that’s a dark colour, black, blue or brown (depending on the colours in the top).
