Before the Main Event: Planning the Bridal Shower

A bridal shower can be exciting yet tedious to plan if you do not know where to start, have no experience or the time to do so. This pre-wedding event is just as important as the wedding itself. Yes, it is a big deal, but it need not be stressful, why not get some professional help? Getting the help you need will take the stress off you (the hostess) and allow you to use the time to celebrate the bride and enjoy the event along with the other guests.

  Bridal Shower

Getting professional help has its benefits, pros usually have great ideas to get you just what you want, the look, the style, saving you time, stress and money. Think of the décor, coordinating the gifts (after all, you don’t want three guests arriving with the same gift!) as well as gifts the bride does not want.

So, leave the planning to the pros, from finding the fun location to the set up. At Baba’s, we’ve got you covered. We make events memorable and special, we will …

Gift Registry – the basics

When hosting a fabulous bridal shower consider the couple and every aspect of their new life together. Choose carefully the gifts which best suits their lifestyle. Imagine their bedroom as a retreat where the couple can de-stress and really relax. Think of their bathroom as a personal spa and their living room as the room to just be themselves; choose gifts that will also put a fun spin on their personalities and don’t just stick to the basics as lingerie.

Step away from the predictable and choose gifts like candles (scented, massage and pheromone) bath salts and oils (massage, aromatherapy) lounge wear (pyjamas, satin robes, terry cloth robe, kaftans) bed slippers, body (sprays, lotions, massagers) and games (couples games), so many details just use your creative imagination. Hosting a fun-filled bridal shower

Being a great hostess is all about creativity. Sure, you can host a bridal shower that is good but just good isn’t memorable; a fantastic hostess does a play on the Bridal Shower with a hefty dose of naughty, original thinking.

Plan a themed Bridal Shower and use said theme for inspiration. Take the kitchen, for instance as a theme. Look around; how many items in that kitchen can you see the bride using to tantalize the groom? Certainly that spatula could be used for it’s intended purpose but how about it being used to administer a serious spanking to a naughty spouse? Such a large wooden spoon – couldn’t it’s use be reversed?

What is a kitchen without ingredients to whip up fabulous meals and delectable treats (wink)? Gifts should include butter (Body Butter that is) creams (Body Whip Crème) and even salt (Body or Bath Salt) so she can whip up a soufflé (Body Soufflé) with ease or prep a marinade.

But think of the guests let them find creative “double utilise” in the gifts they bring to the shower and give them a chance to explain the “reverse” use.

It’s ideas like these that will take the bridal shower from good to phenomenal and keep guests entertained.

Don’t restrict your creativity to the theme, think of the bride (and the stories she’s told in the past) the guests and of course inject your own naughty imagination into the things you’ve done or imagined. Follow us in twitter @babaslingerie we’re quite social.

The perfect getaway

A long weekend begs for an escape maybe a quick overnight trip so why not plan something memorable, unusual or special. Whether you’re planning a surprise indoor adventure or a road trip plan ahead so you enjoy all there is to enjoy. Start by telling your partner the “need to know” of your plan that they too can make plan (pack and if you have children, arrange for a sitter or plan activities to keep them busy) but not the whole story, don’t ruin the surprise, you want the weekend to be memorable.

Road trip?  – Plan your road trip not too far away (the weekend is not as long as you hope) you want to spend more time being there, not getting there and being too tired to enjoy it. Plan to experience it, go places while there, visit the museum, architecture, a walk on the beach, etc.

Day trip? – Why not plan a picnic? Explore your city – See what there is enjoy; go sightseeing! Check out a museum, a landmark, a concert, the theatre etc. While exploring the outdoor, take some pictures, create lasting memories.

Staying in? – Why not have a Spa day? If you planned an indoor adventure then go all out! Make the locale (bedroom, bathroom, dining room etc.) festive or suggestive with the planned theme (French, countryside, spa). – Plan a spa experience for your partner, you don’t have to leave home to relax and indulge. Transform your bathroom into a spa for two. Don’t forget the details – edible treats, wine, glasses, flowers etc. – place a bud vase with a single flower next to the sink, scatter rose petals around the room, draw a warm bath for your partner and just before you invite them to relax, light the candles. NO phone, tablet, computer or distractions, just relax!

Whatever you do, make it a fun experience, spice things up, don’t forget the details (the drinks, treats etc.) Set the mood (music, games etc.) and remember, don’t go to bed without us!

Get organized in under a minute!

Are you always making plans and not following through? Not enough time to do everything? Is this why you made no resolutions because you usually struggle to follow them? Well, today is a great day to get organized; let’s get started the old fashioned “diary way”.

As a teen my dad would give me a diary every year; that was his way of teaching me time management, (I guess). I too have trouble with resolutions, there is just no way to stay updated with it all; so I do it the old fashioned diary way, it’s easy and now with e-mails, smart phones and apps to keep you organized, it’s even easier.

google-calendar-1040cs010813

There is just no way to stay updated with all the daily tasks but by scheduling you’re guaranteed to improve your performance, I suggest you make the most of your e-mail account and smart phone by using the calendar feature or get a Task Management App.

It’s easy to get and stay organized, just make a list of the tasks to be done (maybe include “things I would like to do” and “interests to pursue“) and set the date and time, I usually put in the reminders. Sometimes I do this for events months into the future and if it’s a recurring event like a birthday I set that too so I never forget. I usually check my list several times daily even though there is a reminder feature which pings. If for any reason I miss a task or there isn’t enough time to complete it, I do what I can on it then I shift it to another time and date. That way it is broken into manageable parts and I have started, that’s the hardest part, starting! Subscribe to our list Also, I am onto my next task to keep me on schedule.

I find it a good idea to write things down where I can see it, on paper (well screen), it makes the objective (more like resolutions) resolute. For each time you complete a task, (a real hurdle) why not celebrate and treat yourself? Before you know it you will start beating your own reminders, good luck.
