QUICK BRA FIT TIP – BAND

Here’s a quick fit tip from the bra experts at Baba’s.

If you find that the band of your bra rides up in your back towards your shoulders then the bra is not a good fit. The band is there to provide additional support to your breasts, along with the cups and straps and therefore, the band should be snug.

For your bra to give the support as intended in a properly fitted bra, the band must fit comfortably snug like a waist belt; in that it fits level around you i.e. the band is at the same level with the front of the bra and parallel to the floor. If it is not then it will inevitably start riding up as the band is too large and the weight of your breasts not being supported by all components working together i.e. the cups, straps and band which will leave you with the appearance of sagging boobs and a hunched shoulder.

Quick Bra Fit Tip – Spills

At Baba’s we’re bra experts, we know your hassles and we want to help you solve them, that’s why we’re here; here is a quick fix to a common bra problem that plague you.

If your breasts do not sit comfortably on your bra’s underwires and they spill over the cups, to the side/under your armpits then it could be the result of a bra band that is too small or bra cup size which are definitely too small, with not enough room for your breasts hence the spill.

To correct the spill make sure you are wearing the correct bra size. One that fits well should see an underwire that supports and lifts the breasts as it hugs near your sides to your underarm leaving enough room to include any excess that may spill.

Quick Bra Fit Tip – Slips

Here we are again, your bra experts from Baba’s with another quick fit tip and today we’re talking; slips.

If your breasts fall below the under-wires of your bra it could be that the band is too large or the cups too small thus it gives no support so the breasts fall out the cups and beneath the band or to the sides, under your arm pits.

This will leave you with an untidy look in your clothes and at a point hurt the breasts from the rubbing and squeeze of the band and under-wires.

To correct this get the proper fit  for your bra size. The band fitting snug with the cups and underwires offering the support as needed.

QUICK BRA FIT TIP – GORE

The gore of your bra is where the under wires or seams (if it is a wire-free style) meet at the centre of your breasts therefore separating them. For an ideal fit; the gore should lay flat against your chest, while the cups are supporting your breasts.

Underwire bra                                                 wire-free bra

If the wires or seams are not lying flat against your chest so that it separates your breasts then the bra is not an ideal fit and will not last as long as it’s meant to; as your breasts puts pressure on the under wires which can cause them to bend or poke through the bra sides. If it is a wire-free style and the seams are not meeting then the breasts will squeeze together and give the appearance of a “uni-breast”, one where there is no separation just a bundle of fat on the chest.

If you find this happening to you in a fit then

  1. It is time you book a bra fitting with us.
  1. It could be the band is too large hence it is not snug enough to pull the under wires/seam close to the chest so that it separates the breasts.
  1. The band is too tight and the cups are too small which puts the bra under pressure. Hence other than the “uni-breast” it gives a forced compressed look or one that juts out underneath the clothes, either way unattractive.

This could cause a fungus to grow in-between or underneath the breasts as perspiration becomes trapped between the breasts. To correct this :-

  1. Get a bra with a smaller band size and adjust the cup size too.
  1. Get a larger cup size, one that envelopes the breasts where the under wires or seams separates, shapes and support your breasts.
  1. Try a bra in a style with a lower gore if you have really large breasts.

Bra fit tips

bra-fit

It’s always best to get a professional fitting, the one size fits measuring guides are at times unreliable, the body changes as we age, weight gain or loss etc. here are a few tips to remember when buying your next bra.

demo

  1. When buying a new bra make sure its comfortable at the loosest clasp, (not riding up in your back) this way as the bra ages and stretches you go tighter in the back and get more wear out of the bra.
  1. Choose the right style for your shape, no need to bulge out of the cups. You should look smooth under your clothes.
  1. When wearing sheer clothing wear nude under whites and black, chocolate brown or navy under dark colours.
  1. The minimum number of bras you should have is four (4), rotate these for the week, the one worn today should get at least 18hrs breathing space before it is worn again and should be washed with every 2 – 3 wear.

When it comes to strapless bras, the right size and fit is critical; here are a few expert fit tips to guide you.

If you are plus sized with large breasts or if your breasts have lost its elasticity; avoid soft cups, wire free or seamless bras; unless you have fake or firm breasts; this type of bra offers little to no support.

Underwire, boning, padding and seams give additional bust support, shape, lift and comfort. Bra padding though it can add size, also adds shape and contour to your breasts and actually feels more comfortable.

Examine the details; is it lined for modesty (nipple concealment)? Lean forward without holding your chest; when you lean forward, are you falling out? Do you feel truly supported in that bra? When you find the strapless bra that works for you, don’t leave without it!
